Sustainability has been core to our business strategy for 26 years. The Q Café Company prides itself on a detailed and robust environmental management system. Accredited ISO 14001, this is an internationally recognised standard for environmental management systems. This mobilises a framework to manage our Environmental Management System and continually improve our environmental performance. By adhering to this standard, we are taking proactive measures to minimise our environmental footprint, comply with relevant legal requirements, and achieve our environmental objectives. Excellence in Waste Management

Within our Sustainability Programme waste management is our key objective. Under the remit of IS0 14001 and Origin Green, this spans food waste management, consumables management, management of oils/fats/greases, water and energy conservation and much more. To support this The Q Cafe Company has signed the Food Waste Charter. The Food Waste Charter is led by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), is committed to achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals to halve per capita global food waste along production and supply chains. The Food Waste Charter for Ireland was introduced in response to the country’s commitment to achieve a 50% reduction in food waste by 2030. This means committing to: 1. Measuring food waste. 2. Setting targets to reduce this waste. Reporting on food waste management activities. In recognition of the strength of our Waste Management Programme, The Q Cafe Company won the Excellence in Waste Management Award at the 2025 Green Awards.

Environmental Leadership

Our ESG Strategy seeks to empower teams and support local communities, meeting the UN’s Goals for Sustainable Development.

We work with a range of charities and organisations such as the 5th Wicklow Bray Sea Scouts, Dublin Wicklow Mountain Rescue Team, Ronald McDonald House, Clean Coasts, and Camara Education to promote environmental and social sustainability.

Everything from running seasonal food sustainability promotions, to integrating sustainability with health and wellbeing in our Q Wellness Programme, to working with suppliers like Keelings, Kish Fish and Atlantis Seafoods to educate and empower customers on eating seasonally and locally. We take a dynamic approach to integrate sustainable processes into every part of our business operations and procedures.
