Breda Quigley Wins IMAGE Magazine CEO Of The Year
From Humble Beginnings To Contract Catering Leader
A very belated post on the incredible win at the IMAGE Magazine Businesswoman Of The Year Awards for our founder and Managing Director. Breda Quigley was shocked to receive the very prestigious accolade of CEO Of The Year for 2018, amongst so many of her outstanding peers in business.
As a young girl in the small village of Hacketstown, Co. Carlow, Breda dreamed of owning her own business. Always spending time with her mother, Julia Quigley, baking soda bread in the kitchen of their small family home in The Curragh, Hacketstown, she formed her love of honest home cooked food. A core tenant of The Q Cafe Company today!
Upon winning a scholarship to Cork College of Commerce, Breda began her journey in food service. Learning her craft with contract catering industry leaders, Breda sought to build solid relationships that would eventually lead to the establishment of our great company in 1999.
Breda’s Deep Respect Her Staff and Local Suppliers Is Key
For the past 20 years Breda has been taking on the giants of the contract catering industry. Our little company, under Breda’s stewardship, has been supporting local start ups, local farmers, local butchers and fishmongers. Thus, supporting local family business, as we ourselves are a family business. Breda’s policy in The Q Cafe Company is that every staff member is a part of her Q Family. Effectively expanding her vast, fun and deeply loving family from Carlow. Speaking to IMAGE Magazine Breda asserted that;
“We are a small, Irish company governed by great women.”
In her speech at the IMAGE Businesswoman Of The Year Awards, Breda commended her staff, asserting that without them she would be nowhere.
