The Curry King, Manoj Kumar, visits the kitchens of The Q Café Company creating time honored Indian dishes passed down from generation to generation! In celebration of Indian Independence Day on the 15th August our Curry King cooked up a storm in the kitchen. Old family recipes from India were enjoyed by one and all.

Since 2006, The Q Café Company has been lucky to work with Manoj Kumar, who holds the position of catering assistant and The Curry King. Manoj, from Punjab, Mukand Pur in Northern India has been living in Ireland since 1998. Indian culture is centered on food and family, a concept Manoj brings to The Q Café Company every single day. He developed his craft working in many Indian restaurants. However no person can compare to the wealth of knowledge he has gained under the tuition of the master himself, his father.

Curries are the focal point of the Kumar family, taking center stage at many family events. With four generations of tradition in cooking, the family recipes could be seen as quite the secret. It is our incredible privilege to have Manoj share his family traditions with us. Creating delicious all homemade Chicken Korma, Naan bread, Pilau Rice and many more he has earned the coveted title of The Curry King!

Each generation of love and passion for food in the Kumar family is evident in the incredible food cooked by Manoj. Throughout the year Manoj has gone from site to site sharing Indian traditions, and a few secrets, with our Chefs in The Q Café Company. This was particularly wonderful on Indian Independence Day. All homemade dishes and accompaniments using all natural ingredients celebrated the best of Indian food and culture. A beautiful commemoration of India ensued in which The Curry King served up the best curry we have ever tasted!

Still, Manoj has been in Ireland long enough now to grow to love Irish food. His favourites being a good toasted chicken and mayonnaise wrap or a steaming pot of Irish stew made by our chef Dermot. We look forward to much more from The Curry King in the future…you may see him in your kitchen soon!
